For example, my friend hates the weight limit in Skyrim so he just takes that out every playthrough. But if you do that and still aren't having fun, go nuts. So you have to be mindful about how you're changing it, and don't let your modded experience affect your overall opinion of the game critically. I do think that it can potentially throw off the balance of a game, and you should give vanilla a fair chance as designed, since the devs probably puts lots of thought into the whole experience. And anyone who says "you didn't really beat it" probably bases far too much of their identity on their mad video gaming skillz and how they're really good at beating things that were designed to be beaten. If you'd really like a game if it weren't for grinding for x resource, take that part out. You enjoy games however you want (as long as they're singleplayer. I don't care about whatever people define as "truly beating a game" for pointless bragging rights.
